Just as pleased as can be with 2D....
Its wonderful..
Kinda funny, I want to take side renders of my characters and make them the sprites for gameplay...going to try to accomplish that tonight..
but on to my question...
Will the network engine of t3d (or something equivalent) be added for 2d?

Oh yes, sweet, lovable, cuddly networking on it's way as soon as we've got this EA release swinging. :)- Melv.

Hope it's soon... the networking engine and all the great stuff I've heard about it was my primary reason for wanting to buy T2D.

Well, It would probably be less of a pain to just either wait for networking or buy TNL

Well, in theory can't you just add T2D to Torque and gut out the parts your don't need?Well, It would probably be less of a pain to just either wait for networking or buy TNL

If you read through Josh's plans you can see how advanced Torque based networking is... your better off letting the creators develop it :)

We'll be putting out checkers demo to show this but there's a wealth of information available on this site (as well as from people) on how to start a server, connect a client and use "commandToServer()" and "commandToClient()" calls to drive an RPC-based game.
We intend to do ghosted-T2D objects but, as I've said, we need to let to dust settle first and make sure all the new people just starting with T2D are happy, smiley people before we go to the next milestone.
If you intend to do non-twitch, lower-paced games, RPC is more than adequate though.

You CAN use RPC calls now though. We'll be putting out checkers demo to show this but there's a wealth of information available on this site (as well as from people) on how to start a server, connect a client and use "commandToServer()" and "commandToClient()" calls to drive an RPC-based game.

Well let me just temper what Melv said with a caveat I've posted elsewhere. As of about 3 weeks ago, you could do script-based network calls. But we haven't checked it recently. However, the checkers demo will be released in the next few weeks, and then it'll be in for sure. (Again, it may be in right now, but I'm just hesitant to say it's guaranteed given that we haven't tested it very recently.)

In the future, please listen to Josh, he's the sensible side of my personality and thank god he's here to save me from myself. :)
