Mac version when? :)

by Celso Riva · in Torque Game Builder · 02/27/2005 (3:13 am) · 25 replies

Just a quick question... the Mac version is coming shortly after the Windows first stable release or later? (weeks later, months later, years later...) I'd love to port my game instantly to mac (maybe even linux) at the same time :)

I'm sure it was mentioned in another thread that it just needs tidying up and will be pushed out of the door on Monday.

Monday.

They were all supposed to be coming out at the same time onFriday but time just got the better of us, sorry.

We're not favouring Windows at all and making Mac/Linux people wait, no sir.

New builds for all on Monday. Really sorry for the delay.

What time will it be released?
Or do you even know?
Or do you want to torture us but not telling :-)

I don't know the exact time Bob, sorry. Josh may have a better idea on that one though.

Expect evening and you'll be okay. ;)

Just wondering... why was the Mac version delayed?

@Brian: I develop under Windows although I want to change that in the near future to try to become skilled in development under the Mac and Linux. There wasn't really a delay, we just ran out of time to simply do the builds. We felt bad not releasing the Windows version that was ready in the meantime.

Don't want Mac/Linux people to think that you're always going to be behind schedule on things. Not at all.

There's no reason why all three platforms can't stay pretty much sync'd in the future and so we'll be aiming to always release at the same time, assuming we don't have any critical problem on one particular build, maybe that'll be windows for a change. :)

Cool, just curious... us mac freaks can't wait to sink our teeth on the thing! It sounds like it will be well worth the wait.

Just wondering... why was the Mac version delayed?
Because I had only gotten about 6 hours sleep in the preceeding 4 days, and I just didn't have enough energy to finish the Mac and Linux packaging. But, we didn't want to make everyone wait until after I slept and recovered and had time to get it up there (which, btw, I *just* finished the final package. It's being tested furiously as I type, and hopefully will be uploaded before our web guru heads home for the night!)

:) I tried my best though to get it out Friday and so did Melv

It's up! Go grab it. :) Thanks guys.

Note: please see this FAQ if you get an error the first time you try to compile T2D with XCode.

I hear ya Gary! Only one more to go. :-)

A linux user patiently awaiting (who has been reading those pdf's from the windows one to keep him occupied... hehehe).
