UPDATE: Short of Networking and more maps... I'd say this is pretty much done.
Two packages, TankPong-Redist.zip is packaged per the EULA (Josh might want to confirm that it's OK)
TankPong-Source is the .CS files for the game.
NOTE: My redistribution format uses a very slimmed down Common folder.... you may or may not find it of use when packaging your own game.

I love that game!

I love the fact that most of the games I grew up with had worse art than my own programmer art!I love that game!

My high score in the shooter demo is about 2200.
[/embarassed]
I saved up my money for 6 months to buy an Atari 2600--in fact, I actually bought the "Superman" cartridge before I bought the console. That was a pretty interesting game for the level of tech in those days!
I was a HUGE fan of "Adventure" as well!

Bring it on ... 8)
I will of course have the handicap of not being able to move my tank whilst at the same time balancing a pint of "Spank-Dog" on my head!
Me thinks this will be an official IGC'05 match to the death!

In any case, I was going to reply to Jay's public thread but couldn't, so I'll throw it in here. I spent night after night on that 2600 on games like Defender, River Raid, Chopper Command, Spider Fighter, Shark Attack, Demon Attack, the above tank game, and the list goes on and on. In fact I still have a working 2600 and cartridges up in the attic. Now, seeing what could be done with Defender in the demo, I can't help but think that with newer graphics, some nifty physics, and some updated gameplay these could be fun little office games again. I've had the PC CD's with these remakes that suck, but with T2D they could be great. For a whole new generation. Which makes me wonder if you've considered the ability to port to the cell phone/hand held market.
GG has turned out to be a great community, and as I go through these forums I wish I had more to offer technically. Having just started getting into Torque, however, these periodic interjections are all I can offer. I'm excited about seeing a time when I can offer more.

There's been alot of regurgitation of popular comic heros in films as well as resamping of old songs in the music industry so why not do the same here? Polish some of these classics and bring new life.
The age of the "boy in the bedroom" making a hit game is back ... oh yes!

@Terry: You're right on the money there. Labrat just proves how quickly you can put together a pretty convincing clone of the original. I can only imagine what could be done with a couple of dedicated people in a period of a month or two, add some fancy graphics and perhaps networking and the possibilities become staggering. There's been alot of regurgitation of popular comic heros in films as well as resamping of old songs in the music industry so why not do the same here? Classic remakes are sweet (side-stepping whatever IP issues you need to can be tough though). But of course we want to see lots of new, fresh ideas too. :)

One thing I've noticed is that the tanks rotate and move frustratingly slow. Is this the same on yours?

Labrat, you are a god amongst men. I spent sooooooooo much time on my atari playing this.
Now you need some blockers, perhaps a simple tile-map maze thing and sweet!
Having the little white projectiles bouncing off the blockers was the best bit. Firing around corners off a wall. :)
Brings back so many childhood memories! :)
Thanks!
