LOD problems.

I've spent bigger part of the day pulling my hair as I can't seem to get the LOD for .dts statics exported from blender to work properly in Torque, I've been looking trough the forums and all resources I've got my hands on but still it's barely mentioned anywhere.. Did I miss something obvious? Are there any tutorials or examples anywhere that shows you how to get it working?
I've got a object working in Torque with textures and collision fairly easy but this really frustrates me, I made a low-poly version of the object and parented it to a DetailX* empty which is parented to the "Shape" empty just like the standard object. The only thing that I've managed to achieve this far is the fact that at a certain distance the object disappears, the low-poly version is nowhere to be seen.
*(I've tried a bunch of values)
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I actually made it as a start to use in another tutorial that I'm working on, but I probably won't be done the tute for at least a week or more.
you can find it here www.junkyardcat.net/blender/blends/ named lod2.blend
I'm pretty sure that's the one... I don't have a copy of Torque here, and won't be home to test it till wednesday... lemme know if it doesn't work
if it works, but doesn't help you, then someone else may need to reply unless you wanna wait a week or 2 till I'm done the tute *L*

I have a working LOD model, it's not _exactly_ LOD, but it works with the LOD to change the colors of a cube depending on how far away you are. I actually made it as a start to use in another tutorial that I'm working on, but I probably won't be done the tute for at least a week or more.

purple, red, green, and blue I think are the only ones that it uses

Oops, forgot the images for the colors... purple, red, green, and blue I think are the only ones that it uses

Do you have to use some specific exporter settings or something like that? I've exported animated characters from blender without much of a fuzz but this just wont work, are you sure this is the right one?

Many thanks on the response, the .blend is set up pretty much the same way as the one I was experimenting with and the result is the same... Its blue at close and when you move away from it.. it disappears :/ Do you have to use some specific exporter settings or something like that? Unless someone else has a working example, I'm afraid it'll be a few more days before I can sort it out

Oops, you're right. I forgot that one was only working in -show. I'm probably not going to be able to get to it again untill this weekend. Unless someone else has a working example, I'm afraid it'll be a few more days before I can sort it out

Ahh, well thanks for helping out :] I'll just wait for that as it doesn't seem anyone else has figured it out or at least don't feel like giving any help.

I've been having the exact same problem that you're experiencing. The LOD renders fine in the show tool and show tool pro, but in-game every DL beyond the first fails to render. I posted the issue a while ago, but no one really seems to know much about it. James U responded and said that LOD should work fine, but I double checked my set up and still haven't had any luck. I also got a response from someone else saying that he believes the issue is still unresolved. I don't know if the problem is with the exporter itself or something we (the users) are doing wrong, but either way I haven't found anybody yet who has gotten LOD to work properly.
The work around I'm using is to export from blender to wavefront .obj and then import that file into milkshape to finish the model. It's a pain, but it's better than nothing.
Hope this at least helps you maintain your sanity if nothing else.

Sean: Hows the tutorial going?
Jeremy: I played around with milkshape but it's not working for me, im losing bits a and pieces here and there, among other things. There must be a way to fix this in Blender :/

I've just been a bit overloaded with school and work, so I'm laging behind a bit on what I intened to have finished by now... I was also hoping by now someone might have figure out what's wrong with lod2.blend for it to work right in-game, but that has not yet come to pass ;o)
I'll post here as soon as I have something at least partially finished, and should I get it to work, I'll probably post how immediately *lol* it's nagging in the back of my head as well =o)

I've not yet gotten LOD to work in-game, so I've not completed the tutorial for it. If I'm not able to within another week or 2, I'll just put up what I have with my other tutes, which is basically "how I made lod2.blend" work as far as it doesI've just been a bit overloaded with school and work, so I'm laging behind a bit on what I intened to have finished by now... I'm having the same problem and i also had the same problem with 3ds max... Lods work ok in the show tools, but not in game. I think that Duncan is correct, the problem might actually be in the engine code somewhere.

If it's in the game code, I was working with some people before school started that can look into that (which was how I got involved with all this in the first place ;o) but again, that's something that'll probably not happen for another couple of weeks as I think they're finishing out the semester as well.
Of course, as before, if someone finds a fix before then, please post it ! =o) I want to finish my LOD tute ;o)

James actually gave me a few ideas to try, for fixing my colored cube, but I've been so busy with school and work, that I just haven't had time at all. 2 more weeks and finals will be over, and I'll be able to get back to this.If it's in the game code, I was working with some people before school started that can look into that (which was how I got involved with all this in the first place ;o) but again, that's something that'll probably not happen for another couple of weeks as I think they're finishing out the semester as well.
