Help get Starter.fps to run a dedicated server

by John Perricone · in Torque Game Engine · 02/18/2005 (3:17 pm) · 5 replies

1) I made a shortcut to TGEDemo.exe
2) Added parms C:\Torque\SDK\example\torqueDemo.exe -dedicated -mission starter.fps/data/missions/stronghold.mis
3) The consol says the server is up and running OK

4) I start up TGE Starter.fps again and try to join my server and it is no where to be found in the list.

I think I need some help here I am on a Windows based PC.

Can someone point me to some specific instructions for this on Windows PC,
I searched and found for MAC and Linyx but no help for windows. If I could just figure
out how to get the demo running a -dedicated server would be a plus.

PS. I Read 3DGameProgrammingAllInOne and found that the author changed a lot of
folders and file names/functions around different from the TGEdemo and so that Book
is confusing me even worse.

Thank You for the speedy reply, and you are correct. The LAN server is working thats good. Witch leads me to my next questions:

How do I get the server -dedicated to run online?

And does Garage Games run a master server for us indie's to play with/on?

Ye GG runs a Dev Master Server.
If you start a server it shows on lan and online.
So if you have a friend that wants to play he should see the server :)

Ok I have 2 PC in my house and I can host dedicated on one PC and join from the other online. I usually run a Tribes 2 server all the time. Tribes 2 lets me host a dedicated and join same server (online) from the same pc. Has this been changed in TGE since Tribes 2? Thanks for your help.

Nope, that code is largely the same.
