Networking is fun and easy
There is a great community behind it
There is a great publisher behind it
It's produced a variety of fun independent games ... which probably make more money combined than any other $100 development tool
It's cross platform ... even Xbox if you make a good enough game

Have you downloaded the Demo's of any of the games made with Torque?
The engine is capable of creating great things. The question isn't one of if you should buy it.... but rather, will you be able to tame it once you have? 5, 10, 25, 100 people could all tell you to buy the engine because it's the next best thing to sliced bread (there are testemonials in Here). But those same people can't give you their understanding, nor will they be the one developing your game.
If you haven't tried the demo, or played with the scripting... you really should do so before commiting to buying the engine.

Agreed with the above statement. If you have tried the demo and still need convincing then Torque might not be your best bet. BUt if you want an out of the box start FPS and add to it with open-mod-ability ("double hyphenated, whoops") then Torque is for you.
I am a comp sci student and I have had ALOT of questions on how to work Torque but I have never had to post a question well one actually.. But other then that question the documentation and forum had most of the answers.
Good luck on your search you wont find another AAA engine for this cheap!

Basically, torque is a very good move. Its cheap, 100 bucks is really nothin when ya think about it. If your aiming for more graphics, you can buy TSE as well. You get the fast use of torque, simply download and play, and you get the community who can answer your problems so you don't rip your hair out tryin to figure them out all by yourself. And instead of taking up to a couple of years tryin to write your own engine to match it, you can buy it and be working on your game within days.

If you plan to make your own engine, unless you know alot about programming your definatly not gonna top torque. What i like best about it is its out of the box functionality. You can just download and get straight to work, the starter kits make it very easy. Making your own will be much much more deifficult and make things take far longer. Also, unlike torque, you won't have a community of hundreds of people to help you out with your problems, only yourself.Basically, torque is a very good move. Oh you wanted to know about the engine?
It's proven, it's a fully functional game, you don't have to spend 2 years writing an engine, it has scripting, networking, a GUI and other wonderful stuff you can find on the website if you spend time looking. And it's only $100. Oh and the community is great.

Torque is great because it's complex enough that it keeps annoying 11 year old away from the community, who want to use it to make MMPOGs.Oh you wanted to know about the engine?

Not really, but if you don't have some programmer background (anything... phyton, php, basic... whatever) then you'll have a steep learning curve to climb if you wanna take full advantage of it. However, you can learn tons from the community and you'll certainly be able to make simple games with it.
And since you get the source (and if you have programmer background)
you can do absolutely anything you want with it. Saves a ton of time because you won't have to write your own engine, network and art tools/editors. It's like this... if you're not a mechanic you can still contruct a kit car right? But you'd have a hard time making a car from scratch :)

Stay out! Don't buy it. It's so easy to use that if you do you'll become my competition haha...Not really, but if you don't have some programmer background (anything... phyton, php, basic... whatever) then you'll have a steep learning curve to climb if you wanna take full advantage of it. GG community. Please don't post anymore. This thread is offensive. We don't need the money enough to beg. Having somebody like this in our community is simply not worth it.Edit: I would delete it, but some of you made nice answers.
