I don't think any of these guys will ever amount to much...

Sorry if this has already appeared and caused embarassment before...

This is a scan from the book, 'High Score!', right?

There's the Jeff Meister. :)

I haven't seen that picture for a long time! One thing you have to hand it to EA. They work on the whole image thing. Even though this is corny, it is more work on promotion in one afternoon than most indies do in a month. Man, we though we were in heaven! We were hooked up with EA, we had finished our first game on the AMIGA, and we had just come back from the first EA Artist's Symposium at Trip Hawkin's multi-million dollar house. While we were at the symposium, Ray Tobey's (Skyfox) Lotus sports car was parked out front as testament to just how much money we would be making ANY DAY NOW :)

BTW, the guy on the bottom left is Kevin Ryan. He worked with GG on Marble Blast and is currently working on the best Mini Golf game I have ever played. The guy in the middle is Damon Slye, whom I still see all the time and will be getting started on his first indie game as soon as he quits being retired.

EDIT: Oh, I just thought of a great postscript to this story. My friend, Randy Derhsam, took this photo before he came to work for me at Dynamix (later went on to EA and Acclaim at very high levels, but is now back in Oregon). As an example of how these big companies do business, it took nine months to be paid for his work from EA.

Wow, 9 months...

Makes one proud to be an indie, especially since we're to broke to put together any "corny" pictures lol. Guess some marketing lessons could be learned, though a bit re-applied.

Wow - now there's an old photo.

- That picture was taken across the street from Garage Game's current office, probably just before or after a frisbee golf game at the park.

- Ray's car could go over 100 mph as I discovered on a interesting drive from SF to Amiga's headquarters down in the San Jose area. He also had an amazing stereo system - put on Dark Side of the Moon and the heartbeat would push you backwards.

Heh, I wondered what Damon Slye ended up doing - I loved the sims you guys produced in the early 90's. I think I still have a copy of Aces Over Europe on the CD tree next to my desk (I wonder if I can get it to run in DOSBox...?). And I remember A-10 Tank Killer with much fondness...

Hey, Jay, bring back the pix, I want to see it :)
Those guys were one of the closest thing to heroes I had in my teenage years (back when Dynamix, EA, Origins and friends were getting started, and I know you remember ;))

Is that link not working for you, Nicolas?

Seems my DNS has been a little spotty since our emergency relocation --- it's causing me major frustration.

It is now working. I was under the impression you had taken it out when you edited your post.
It shows up now, and it looks more like the 70s than the 80s :)

I don't know why, but Davids post almost made me puke laughing.

Ahhh, it's the simple things in life.........
