Fixed) Request: Forum & Resource Web Page Titles

by Andrew Haydn Grant · in Site Feedback · 02/03/2005 (1:45 pm) · 7 replies

I've just started here, and there is an awful lot to digest. I find myself keeping a whole pile of resources and forum topics open at once, in a vast array of web browser windows.

It would be awfully nice if each resource or forum topic page had a title that matched the name of the resource or forum topic. That way, I could easily go to the browser window I needed. Equally valuable, I could more easily bookmark the pages for later reference.

Would anyone else find this change helpful?

Andrew,

Yes, I agree that it would be nice if the title attribute for the HTML page matched the forum/resource/etc. title. For those of us who use tabbed browers, or those who use multiple windows, this would help. I understand your pain since I sometimes have as many as 30 or 40 tabs going on multiple threads/topics.

Good idea.

I almost posted this exact same request two days ago but decided against it since GG has their hands full. But since it got posted after all I would like to lend my support for this idea as well. I use FireFox and like Edward I tend to have dozens of tabs going at any given time and having the thread title as the page name would definately help out quite a bit. And it would be great to not have to rename each resource link as we save them.

This would be brilliant and should be straightforward to implement (i can only guess at the set up obviously)

I agree that this would be cool :) Rick has a very tall stack of things he is working on right now, but I am pretty sure that he's aware of this one already - afterall, we are all tabbed browsing junkies here and are on the forums daily.

I've been browsing these forums for a year or more. I think this would be a great addition. It would also be a help when bookmarking pages.

My specialty is web/database integration specifically with MySql and PHP. Let me know if you need help with tidbits here and there.
