Merge with RTS starter kit

Has anyone been able to merge the Lighting pack with the RTS starter kit? I have been working with this for a couple days and can easily get a successful compile but undesirable results, namely... well, The Lights Don't Work! I could go into more detail in my struggles if someone would like me to, but I'm more interested if anyone else has successfully achieved this task and if you have any suggestions or tips as to duplicate your feat.
Thanks

Richard, I've tried patch files, however those caused more problems than they solved. Besides I cannot create a patch for every product and resource on this site and update them every time they change. Also patch files contain code from the source and destination projects potentially giving away code to unlicensed people.
If you're saying that GG should be managing this (and not me, as your post seems to imply), then your energy would be better spent discussing this directly with them as I have no control over how these things are handled.

I know. If I was more of a people person I probaly wouldn't do software for a living. :-)

Then don't. Pick a version of TGE, create a script to support that one and update it when you feel like it. The alternative right now is DIY.

No, I am saying that a coorparative relationship between GG and certain high profile vendors benefits all involved. I am suggesting you approach GG about selling a merged version. One that is easier to use and thus sells more of the doggone things.
Think Half Life & Team Fortress.

If it were as simple as Lighting Pack + RTS SK, then I would agree with you completely--should provide a merged baseline, but it isn't that simple :(

@Richard: As I mentioned, there are a couple of ideas floating around, but it gets extremely in depth extremely quickly (3 current code packs, 10+ content packs--some of which include code), plus a wide variety of TAP mainline products (T2D, TGE, TSE), plus backwards compatibility--all adds up to some HUGE issues regarding custom builds. If it were as simple as Lighting Pack + RTS SK, then I would agree with you completely--should provide a merged baseline, but it isn't that simple :(

That makes more sense, I thought you were asking for a Lighting Pack with patches and scripts that support every other GG product. Actually a conversation along these lines is already underway, however at this time it's hard to tell which direction it's heading.

True. As I have mentioned in other posts, GG is at a critical point that determines just have big you can, and should get. Are you a destined to be a niche company with quirky, but effective products, or the dominant game creation tool company?
Don't see how you get to be the latter unless I can plug in physics, lighting, and whatever else becomes a must have for game engines in 2-5 five years.
And maybe your current products aren't meant to get there in their present form. Who says your tools have to stay backwards compatible? Maybe the end game is to make a shift as radical as going from DOS to Windows XP.

@All: The topic of addressing the needs of customers with multiple content and code "packs" (including the lighting pack and the RTS-SK" is one that has been discussed, and quite frankly there aren't any current technical solutions that will solve current and future considerations. There are a couple of ideas in the "brainstorming" mode, and if anyone has any suggestions about how to handle any number of kits/packs and how to merge them all into a customized distribution at the time of purchase, it would be interesting to hear!
No promises on if/when this would ever happen, but no harm in discussing technical solutions!
