Possible Cloaking Bug?

When you're cloaked, and you use the repairer at the same time, the repair beam shows up. This may be by design, but i thought i'd post it just in case it wasn't.

It is common with games in general that when you are cloaked you can't do other things (aside from moving). This allows cloaking to be used for passively sneaking around and setting yourself up for a shot, but it does not allow you to make trouble while cloaked.

On the other hand, right now the only ways to figure out that you can't, for example, repair yourself while hidden (or put shields up, or carry the flag) are to either get blown up while doing so or to see someone else make the mistake. Maybe it would be better to just not allow people to use these "visible" modules while cloaked. There's really no reason to cloak while using shields or repairing, so this would help people catch on faster without limiting useful game tactics.

Wow, I just had a weird idea. Cloaking while carrying the flag is a stupid idea as it is now. You won't really be hidden. So there's no reason to allow both cloaking and flag carrying. How about not allowing people to pick up the flag while cloaked? If they cloak while already carrying the flag, then they drop it. This is good for two reasons:
1) New players will not be trying to run around cloaked with a flag and wondering why they are so easily taken out.
2) There was some discussion earlier about a module to let you drop the flag. The idea was shot down because such a module would not be useful enough to be worth carrying. Now cloaking can be that module :)

Of course, dropping the flag when you try to cloak could be frustrating if you don't expect it. This is the kind of mistake you learn not to make very quickly though. You cloak, the flag drops, obvious. When cause and effect are clear, learning is much easier. Having the opponents shoot more accurately when you're carrying the flag? That can be attributable to luck or might not be noticed at all.

This sounds perfect to me. I second Eric's idea.

I like this idea as well, HOWEVER.

I've often killed people trying to recover their flag by cloaking while having their flag as they don't expect me to be there. >:)

This would still work... you'd drop the flag, and cloak under it. In fact, it would work BETTER because they would see the drop message. You'd still be able to uncloak, kill them, and get the flag right back.

I'd vote for a plain old "drop flag" button. You could still use it strategically, and still laugh at retards running away with a flag while cloaked.

True Myrddin, true. Didn't think of that. :P
