Weird Bug when Placing mines

I placed a mine and accidently ran into it, and that's where it got weird. My ship seemed to go in-humanly fast, as if I had my thruster on but 100x faster. Everyone and everything else was moving in fast motion too, and I couldn't recieve or send chat, or see anything that was happening. All I could do was bounce around in super-speed until I got frustrated and force-quitted the game. When I restarted it, it was absolutely fine.

Was this just an instance of lag, or something like that? Or is it a bug?
