Hey guys, I want to give you access to the new Dojo demo before we do a public release. You can download it here:
ftp://demos.garagegames.com/tse/TSEDojoDemo-Installer.exe
Please post here if you have any problems running it, or you see something that should be changed.
Thanks!

For the people who reported chugging slight & major on good systems, just out of curiosity, did you have programs running in the background and if so which programs would those be? Just wondering...thanks.

I've had the exact same problem as David Erenger with the mousepointer getting stuck near the edges of the screen. I also posted this 3 months ago in the SDK bugs section, as well as the Project Manager.

The demo looks great with no visual errors.
It is however quite sluggish. No programs running in the background except V-Ray Floating License Server and GetRight (no downloads in progress). This was immediately after a reboot.
Tried again with a number of applications open - Photoshop 7, Trillian, WinAmp 3.c, Outlook Express, and 3 IE browser windows. Performance was roughly the same as before, averaging around 11 to 13 fps when looking at the Orc model, and up to about 32 fps when looking into a dark corner. Moving outside the room pushes fps up to around 45, and looking away from the room on the outside (ie just seeing the white glow) returns around 150 fps.
I also had some trouble clicking on the arrows at the bottom of the screen, but could not consistently reproduce this behaviour.

I did see the cursor sticking problem once, but when I ran it again, the problem was gone ;( If you are getting it consistently it would be awesome if you could track it down. Is this only happening in fullscreen?
Ben noticed that the demo was hitting his disk on a regular basis which would explain the chugging. We're looking into this.

The demo that's up there is full-screen when it shouldn't be by default as well, and that totally messed with the GUI (supposed to be 800x600 windowed)...

Yeah I'm going to rework some stuff on the Gui in a day or two A) For marketing and B) those damn arrows. They were originally small because we wanted them as un-attention grabbing as possible on the huge projector at IGC, but they have to go, a lot of people are running into problems with them. The demo that's up there is full-screen when it shouldn't be by default as well, and that totally messed with the GUI (supposed to be 800x600 windowed)...

I have an Athlon C 1,4 Ghz, Geforce TI4200 128 MB, Win2k SP4.
After starting I get the message "This demo requires a video card with at least pixel shader 1.4 capability".
Is this an update from the TSE ? Because the Car Demo and the TSE (last cvs update Dec. 2004) work without problems on my system.
Also I always thought my card have pixel shader 1.4 capabilities, am I wrong ??

I think it was the best bang for your buck for almost 3 years.. The Gforce FX5900xt (basically a FX5950 with cheaper ram modules and clocked down a bit - ala the ti4200).. Is commonly referered to as the new ti4200..

I believe the ti4200 is ps1.3 . The TI4200 had a good run though.. I think it was the best bang for your buck for almost 3 years.. The Gforce FX5900xt (basically a FX5950 with cheaper ram modules and clocked down a bit - ala the ti4200).. Is commonly referered to as the new ti4200..

GeForce 4 is a 1.4 card, something else is going on here what version of DirectX 9.

My GF4 Ti 4600 reported the same "error". I was on DirectX 9b though...I'll try the latest when I get home tonight.

TSE will continue to support 1.1 pixel shaders - I'm writing a water version for those cards. It will not do reflections on 1.1 shaders however (other than skybox).
Looks like the disk hitting chug was some anomaly from the old IGC demo.

Geforce 3 and 4 do not have 1.4 pixel shaders. The FX series onward does. As does the Radeon 8500+. I just put that warning in there because the whole point of the dojo demo was to show off the planar reflections, which require 1.4 pixel shaders.TSE will continue to support 1.1 pixel shaders - I'm writing a water version for those cards. Sorry for the misinformation there guys.

Seriously? Wow I did not know that. I thought 8500 and GF4 were in the same class.Sorry for the misinformation there guys.

so this is only a warning ?
But the demo and now also the TSE SDK stop at this point. Everytime I try to click on the OK button on this message, the whole dos console of the TSE shutdown.
Okay the demo isn't necessary to me, but the SDK.
So, will it work some times again with my TI4200 or will I have to buy a new card ?
@Pat,
no problem, that's why we talking about stuff like this ;-)

I haven't reverted it because I've changed that file along with 20 or so others with the work I'm doing on the water. Since this is causing some grief, I might just juggle some files around to remove it now. Sorry for the confusion!
01/25/2005 (1:04 pm)
It is an assert that was not supposed to be checked into the SDK. You can remove it safely from your build.I haven't reverted it because I've changed that file along with 20 or so others with the work I'm doing on the water.
