Is there a way to turn Difs to Map?

by Jeff Trier · in Artist Corner · 11/22/2001 (8:38 am) · 11 replies

I want to view some Tribes 2 bases to see how they made such great buildings with little overhead.

Thanks all,
-Jeff

On a related note, any way to get WC objects to DTS? The Worldcraft DXF exporter kinda messes with the DXF :(

Isnt there a .map to 3ds converter? seems logical to me that there would be something like that.

There's a max 2 map converter, maybe there's the reverse.

I was more hoping for a .dif to .map converter. :)

That actually points me in a direction, though, sorry for the thread hijack, Jeff.

@ Jeff

You could load them in the game using the editor and then hit F9 once to view the wireframe and F9 again to view them in flatshade mode. THis will give you some idea how they are made.

Ahh thanks, didn't think of that. :)

Is there a key for what all those colors mean for the F9 view? They seem to be groups or some kind of entity brush. I see groups of white, purple, green etc...

Thanks,

Those are the portal zones I think.
I haven't tried to laod a T2 structure into the game myself, but I did some simple portals tests and it looked like what you descripe.

So the colors are arbitrary and they different merely to show the different zones?

Yes, I would think so.
But don't hang me up on it.

Yes, I discovered that is what it means. :)

After a lot of study, I now have a fairly complicated castle with the fps averaging around 40. Never below 30, and sometimes at 60. Woot!

However, I still haven't added the .dts furniture and tested it properly with the amount or players I envision.
