Hello Everyone,

I just bought the Breave tree Girl-pack only to find out there is only models for max 5.0.
I own 4.2 and need to find a why to export my models into torgue game engine.

Does anyone here know how to make a player model with just using bones.

Thank you,

leroy

There really isnt much of a difference between using bones and biped in 3DS Max, both are just an means to an end result.

If you are using bones you would set them up as you normally would for a character rig for animation and link the required DTS nodes to it. From there the export process is the same (ie. get the character mesh assigned to the bones either through skeletal deformation with the skin modifier or via segmented models) and export.

The only real catch with using your own custom skeleton is that you will have to redo various animations since you cannot use the stock Torque animations on a skeleton that does not match.

Thank you Logan for responding,

Logan do you have any examples of required linked DTS nodes in 3d studio max 4.2?. I am having so trouble getting any animations of any kind to export from max to DTS format. I can not find any tutorials to teach me anything on the subject matter.

Do you have any models you could hand down to a fellow modeler?

Thank you,

Leroy

A more in depth Tutorial would be useful to all the New Modelers here at GarageGames. UT2004 (Editors' Edition) comes with Video Tutorials (by 3D Buzz) on how to make and export models for their game. Videos are the fastest way to learn something new. IMO.

And reading the very thoroughly written and indepth documentation provided by GarageGames will provide you a weath of far more information than what could be covered in a video tutorial. Even when we discuss the DTS Exporters at IGC its quite a difficult subject to cover since it isnt a linear progression and 1 hour of time is rarely long enough.
