Torque demo errors

Hello,

I'm new here, but a friend pointed out the torque game engine to me and it looks great. I think that it's amazing that such a high quality engine is being offered for such a low price, and I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on the source code.

I have a few questions, though, that I have been unable to find answers to anywhere on the GarageGames website. I also hate to buy a product unless I know exactly what I am getting. And I have noticed a few large errors in the demo, and I am not sure if they are caused by my own ineptitude, the limitations of the engine, or the limitations of the demo.

For instance, when I try to add an DIF file made in QuARK that contains an arch, the demo shuts down and tells me that I do not have the proper artwork or version of Torque. The same thing happens whenever I try to add cloud layers.

There are a few other problems, but I won't waste your time with them here. Here is all that I want to know:

Are my problems known problems with the engine or with the demo? Or are they probably problems with me?

Also, when I buy the torque engine, do I receive anything else besides the source code? In other words, is the demo limited in any way - or is it the real deal?

Thanks for any help you can give me, and I hope that this is the right forum to post in.

The SDK includes everything the demo does, with a slightly different FPS mission file. Also, it includes another mod, tutorial.base, to serve as a slightly different starting point. So, you get all the artwork and the script files, and I'm pretty sure those fall under the same license.

As for the errors... sounds like it just can't find the right texture files.

The only real limitations of the demo are the lack of source code and how heavily scripted it already is. The starter.fps gives a far easier set of scripts to build off of than the demo.

The engine is somewhat limited in some areas out of the box. Lighting is iffy, though the Lighting Pack helps greatly. The vehicle physics... well, they could use some work. Right now I'm trying to see how much just minor script tweaks help with the starter.racing, but there are definitely some issues that need to be worked on. The community is absolutely wonderful though, and many people are working on improving the engine.
