Weird audio sounds

Hi Folks,
I'm thinking of taking the Torque plunge. Only one thing slowing me down. When I play the demo on my dual AMD the audio is messed up (strange noises occur, odd burps, glitches etc). Occurs when playing the 'Example:FPS Multiplayer' demo. I did a bit of searching and someone on a Mac had the same problem, but there didn't seem to be a solution. I have OpenAL installed (1.0 I believe). Anyway, any suggestions appreciated.
