Copyright questions

I've noticed this line:
// Portions Copyright (c) 2001 by Sierra Online, Inc.
in some of the source files for the RTS Starter Kit.
Is this an old copyright notice? Is it a carry forward copyright as part of a license? How does this copyright notice affect the usage of the RTS Starter Kit in another product? Just need a clarification from an employee of GG.

Dang, I thought we had gotten rid of all those. Jeff is correct; those lines are outdated and should have been long gone by now. :)

Not a problem, I just wanted to be sure that any code I made use of was covered by a single license and I didn't have to go and start asking permission of another party. :-) Better to be safe than sorry.
