Content/Code Packs Pack

by J. Alan Atherton · in Torque Game Engine · 12/20/2004 (9:32 pm) · 4 replies

With the horde of content/code packs and tools that have recently come out or are coming out, I think it would be cool to make a pack pack. Something like offering some kind of discount ($20, $10, whatever) for ordering multiple packs at once. Either that or combine commonly used (or useful) packs for a particular genre into bulk packs. When I look at the price of my wish-list, I start wishing I had more money (poor college student :) I know, I know, it's all still a steal at the prices they are, but we _are_ indies after all. Once I get a game shipped with torque, it'll probably be easier to convince my wife that these packs are a good investment. Until then, there's slim to no chance for me getting any of these, because buying bread and TP tends to have a higher priority.

Grrr... I've griped enough now. Focus on the first couple sentences. I'd like to see a pack pack.

Um alot of people do that. Tim astes packs are available in a big pack and so are some of the brave tree packs

No no, I'm talking a big pack pack. Like lighting pack, RTS-SK, Tim Aste combo, Bravetree combo, Torque Show tool pro (when it's released). I think especially something like TGE + lighting pack + RTS-SK might be good for those without a TGE license already, since I've heard the code is good to look at. Especially the scripts in the RTS-SK are very informative.

I've mentioned this a couple of times in various locations, and I think what it comes down to is that it would be a really beneficial thing to re-organize the "shopping cart" license purchase process to allow for a more "modular" purchasing flow. A lot like what John described in his second post!

Stephens idea is right on. Then you could also do things like making one product dependent on another (TGE and TSE).
