AIMovingInterior

Well I've been working on a little project called AIMovingInterior. Yes thats right Moving Interiors that follow paths. No, this is not like PathedInteriors.
The idea came from boats that are in EQ and WoW.
Here is an AVI of a slightly older version of the AIMovingInterior in action.
http://members.shaw.ca/xorekis/files/AIMovingInterior.avi
Anyway, I would like to release this as a true resource for you all, but I don't have any real interiors I would like to demo it with. I am not a modeler, quark is like a 4 letter word to me.
So I am asking if someone could make me a simple boat interior with a couple of cabins or levels.
Note: The interior must have zones.
EDIT: Forgot, it could also be a blimp style interior as the path is 3D.
So the sooner I can get a boat DIF, the sooner I can create a resource for you all. Untill then, enjoy the video.

My boat has a deck and 2 lower levels with portals. I've tested it in game and it works fine. Just toss me an email, Simon.

Hey Simon it's been several months already, alot of people have offered you a boat, but even just having the cottage dts do that is AWESOME! Come on man spread some code already... I'm dyin to find out how you did that!

Matthew Fairfax also has something working along these lines. In thread Topic: Newbie Question - Moving Interiors in Torque?Quote:www.rustycode.com/matt/pathshape1.wmv
I got side-tracked a little this weekend and decided to tackle the problem of allowing the player to ride a PathShape (a dts that moves around an editable path).

There are still a few minor-ish bugs to fix but the proof of concept is solid. I am hoping that I can get this solid enough in time for 1.4 =)

Actually, maybe Simon was wrong... He posted his request in December of 2003 and the first boat was completed in March of 2004. By now he COULD have learned Quark... No criticism intended of the people who did offer to do stuff or Josh who did the boat. You ask for help and sometimes it is simply a long time coming. Here is hoping he is still around to post the code and the example... I think it would be a cool resource to see.

I really don't want this resource to die, so I'm still holding onto the boat. I've tested it in game and it works great.Just drop me an email and I'll send it right over.

I think I have the boat interior on an external hard drive somewhere. If the original poster still wants it, please email me(email in profile).

@Robert, not sure that has anything to do with interiors... I don't believe that interiors are considered SceneObjects.

Arnt they? I never use interiors, although by looking at interiorinstance.h It looks like they are sceneobjects.

Yes, interiors are SceneObjects.

@Josh.. thanks for the info.
11/17/2005 (9:49 am)
Could be... but I didn't think they were. At any rate... not sure his resource fits with what we are wanting to accomplish with moving interiors... or at least I'm not seeing the connection. Unless Anthony's resource allows us to mount an interior to a dts object....@Josh.. thanks for the info.

Tim now that I think about it, that should be doable. If Anthonys resource allows for grandchildren(DTS parent Interior child DTS child, make sense?) then this should work for you. I'm not sure though. Good luck.

I dont know why it seems so much different to create things in there than in blender/mksp3d/maya/3ds BUT IT IS!
I still have yet to create one working interior.

Quark sucks. Hammer sucks. Cartography shop (demo) sucks.
It seems in Quark you have to have textures in a pak file (what the hell? torque isnt quake)
In hammer you have to have it setup some magical way before you even start placing brushes..
and Cartography shop (love the ease) doesnt let you export unless you buy it! UGH!
