I like the font, I would add some nebula-typical colors. Search for a picture of "horsehead nebula" if you like.
It looks good and appropiate I would say.

cheers,

Nice textual section but you really need more detail, definitley a background part of the logo.

Try something sililar to this, with the nebula image cropped to size. Its obviously a minute job in Paint, but you get the idea. Or you can use some of the darker blues and oranges as a base to make your own nebula image in Photoshop. Enjoy

Nebula is Too distracting, remeber Logos are about selling a Name. I look at the picture and see a cool scnene with some distracting words in front , BAD idea. There should only be 1 focus, the words. The font is ok, but the texture looks a bit dark and probably will be a pain to reproduce for letter heads, cards or what not.

Anthony is right, the nebula is too destracting as it is, however its only to get you started on your way. I went through several different logos for IXE before deciding on a final, simple one. If you dont want to make your own image in Photoshop, you might want to try using the left side of the image and flip ot 90 degrees. Tone it down a little and try sticking your word on top of it. I personally think a dark purple, blue, or red would be good here in the background. Not too crazy though or itll end up like Anthony was talking about. You can find examples of nebulae colorations and shapes here

Orginally I though of making the nebula appear on the letters in full collors and de-saturated/low-contrast in the bit bigger-than-letters background for better
differentiation, but keeping the whole picture of the nebula throughout the logo space as it is the universe all is about ;-)

I make some draft later at home and show what I mean.

Just to follow up here are some thoughts: A logo should be an expression of the entity that it represents, it should be easily reproduced on any medium or format, as well as unique, memorable, simplistic and stand out.

As such if you take a look at your logo, it is far too plain and dull. Although you have a some what unique font face there is nothing that sets it aside either, its just flat text. There is nothing unique, stylized, the logo doesn't stand out or make me memorize it, nor does it tell me anything about your company or your product, the text doesn't flow it just sits there and makes every thing dull. You can try to mask this problem by hiding bitmap images in it, but I honestly dont feel that that will work, you should IMHO take some time and look at company logos and start over again.

I'd advise creating sketches first in pure black and white. if logo looks cool in simple black and white (not just greyscale), it means you have got the right shape and and flow and can start thinking about doing color version. Right now, as people have said - its just text. the texture you have given to it, doesnt help and is just a try to mask the dullness.
Het the shape right. you cant really do it unless you have some idea behind the logo. it should represent something. So maybe you should first start with "what my logo represents?"

Here what i did in my playtime, it might be more a banner than a logo ;-)

Make sure you do the "squint test"

First of all, I think you need to have a logo fitting of the type of project you're making. Is it a space-sim, space strategy, or space combat FPS game? While I think a cleaned up version of your new logo would fit a space combat FPS, it would be inappropriate for a space-sim (in my opinion at least)
I think the background you have is a good start - its not too busy and is mostly one color. I think the text needs to be de-textured before you map over it with the bright colors you have there. Having better defined text edges would also be good. Itll make it slightly more readable, as will toning down the colors you have in it. Perhaps a color scheme that slowly changes between colors? It needs to be more like a cloud if youre going for the nebula look. For example, in the upper left corner of the image I posted is a nice blue texture, its not too crazy, and changes color gradually. Sure, you could throw a COUPLE star looking things into the text, but be careful or the text may become hard or impossible to read.

Logos are all about being able to recognize a brand. They are supposed to be cool, yes artistic, but definately simple. To busy on all the logos. If you wanted to use that logo so badly, focus on the typography instead of what's inside the text. Even if you had a mascot beside or inside the logo, it should be simple. I recommend vector graphics created by an app like Illustrator.

Not to detract from the discussion of logos and graphic design, but at this angle, the Horsehead Nebula resembles a hand 'flipping the bird'...

Wow, it does. I think that makes it officially the coolest nebula ever.

Put that as the logo in your game and see how quick people come to your stoop whining about something looking obscene! I think it would go well in the space of the U.

He he, I think we accidentally took down the NSSDC's server, oops, he he.

I bet you could sell that nebula for more than that cheese sandwich went for on ebay.

I heard about that cheese sandwich. It's one thing when you believe in God and you get a symbol of his existence... It, however, is an entirely different thing when you decide to market and sell that sign for $$$.

Plus, it just looks like the cheese sandwich was undercooked. XD

Anyway, another discussion for another time...
