Starsiege Tribes: Legacy

I did a forum search and noticed no one made a topic of the this movie..
I find it a great movie done by Meradion of the Australia tribes community.
I feel it really shows the dedication of the aussie community and how good they are :).
Yet somehow the aussie tribes community has managed to survive the holocaust of Tribes2 and Tribes: Vengeance (I personally like Tribes2 though).
It is nicely done into neat sections and I find all of it just brilliant.
There are 3 servers you can get it off or you can get the .torrent version
Main Server
TribalWar
Big-Monkey
Runs for 21:37 and is 436mb.
Uses the Xvid Codec
You can find all the details in the original post at bittah.com here. I am just getting peoples attention.
If you have the time and can spend the bandwidth download it and have a look at the aussies in action :)
Thanks

Anyway
Since some of the creators of Starsiege: Tribes are head of this site maybe you can answer this Tribes-related question...
I was playing Scarabeare (The map with the huge bases and the tower in the middle). I go to the vehicle station and get a Scout...
Now I fly out and turn up and left so I dont hit the big mountain. I see is a mine flying at a tremendous speed on a collision course to my path. Next thing I know my scout has blown up and my jaw has dropped to a freaky length.
Did you guys do some kind of secret flying mine thing that I found by freakish proportions or would it be some kind of freakish map bug?
edit: I am not lying so please take this as serious as you possibly can

Too bad Vivendi would probably prevent that from happening.

Yeah I still play T1 from time to time and it still holds up. We can always hope for Tribes 4 using TSE. :) Too bad Vivendi would probably prevent that from happening.

I am really really surprised no one in this community has done a Tribes 1 clone in TGE...

The problem with the Tribes series was that it's been trying to replicate past success without having an actually successful idea. SS: Tribes whole concept is, for the most part, obsolete as a game concept at this point.

Did anybody check out Legends?

I was about to ask, has anyone every tried to get Tribes2 to work in TGE?
But based on Pat's reply above, I'm guessing there are major impediments to making that happen. Or is that just for the original Tribes?

Coincidentally, last night I came across an install of Tribes2 on a crusty old desktop machine. Looking through the folders, saw a bunch of familiar things: .cs files, compiled .cs files, dts files, mission lighting files, etc. Didn't see any dts models, I assume they are on the long-lost CD. I was about to ask, has anyone every tried to get Tribes2 to work in TGE?

I wonder if the Legends team is looking into doing a TSE Port. *Hint*

Legends is a really good representation of Tribes 1. I haven't tried out the latest release though. I think I might just do that. :)I wonder if the Legends team is looking into doing a TSE Port. *Hint*

The only reason Legends was left alone was because of two people at Sierra and it was to be free. Those two people are no longer with Sierra/VUG. After dealing with the Tribes community for years, free is not in my vocabulary anymore.

I'd love to work on a Tribish title but VUG would be all over whoever did with a pack of drooling Lawyers. The only reason Legends was left alone was because of two people at Sierra and it was to be free. I thought legends was shut down because of vivendi?

That is too bad. Legends gave hope that the franchise wouldn't die.
Torque 3D Owner Pat Wilson
"Tribes was such a good game."
"Man if only X would have been done instead of Y."
"We should play a few matches."
Mark will sigh wistfully at his hand-written, assembly sofware-renderer and mention some statistic like "4 cycles per texel" or something. Someone will start formulating about "how long" it would take to get minimalistic Tribes gameplay in Torque. Someone else will say, "It wouldn't be that hard," then someone else realizes it would probably involve winning over TribalWar.com and we scrap the whole thing. ;)
