New to Torque Development, any guidance?

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum, and new to Torque altogether. I'm currently a senior in college, and required to do a final project that involves an interest of mine. I was hoping to make a game. I've made a few little demos here and there with DirectX, OpenGL, etc. but nothing too spectacular. I'm writing because in my research, I came across the 3D Game Programming All-In-One book, and it looked as if making a simple FPS would be do-able. I guess I'm just asking if you all think it would be possible to have a basic single player FPS game demo done by the first week of March, 2005? Also, since I'm new to Torque, I was wondering if there are any good sites with tutorials, etc. besides GG? Anyway, I'd love some help, and I hope someone can give me some tips.

Also, I'm not planning on modding the engine too much, but rather use Torque Script to write the game. If I understand the book correctly (and I have not read much yet), the entire game can be written using Torque Script without even touching the TGE. Is that correct?

Many Thanks,
Russel Pepper

Just start with the game that is in 3DPAI1. Edit/Mod it until you are happy. If you want to make more progress, buying the full source to the engine will get you into the private forums (more help from community) as well as the ability to add features from the resources.

Thanks! I'll play with that for my project, but I'll definitely be picking up the engine as soon as I can afford it! (College budgets...) ;) Thanks again!
