OpenAL problems common? [not the compile error; no sound!]

by Heath Rezabek · in Torque Game Engine · 12/01/2004 (2:18 pm) · 6 replies

I'm getting zero audio for either the RTS or the basic core executables when i run them. i've re-installed OpenAL. has this happened to anyone else? 10.3.4 PowerBook G4 867.

I never have music work. Though, I never listen to whatever's running anyway. Not sure many people are working on audio, as other things...

I've had music working since day one, but with terrible bugs everywhere. Like the sound abruptly stops playing and restarts in the middle of it.

I'm just looking for basic sound fx. when the demo is tried, sound fails at first but works when OpenAL is installed...

So, sound works in the demo (w/ OpenAL installed) but not when you build it on your own?

I thought this was the case, but as i try it again, it turns out there's no sound there either. there is *definitely* sound when i play Gish, though, which was made with torque... :)

thanks for yr other replies, btw; i will try those things out soon & give an update.

is there a preferred Mac install of OpenAL other than 1.0.13?

Gish is not a Torque game (although it is a really cool one).
