Doing that movie thing

You know, that movie thing that everyone but me appears to know how to do.
Things like
demos.garagegames.com/rts_starterkit/rts_pack.mov
and
demos.garagegames.com/tse/TSE_Car.mov
I'd like to be able to capture movies of what's happening in Torque. Preferably within Linux, mostly because I don't have any windows or mac boxes.
I've used ffmpeg with some success in the past:
icculus.org/jugglemaster/mpeg/
I could probably use ffmpeg again [it's not like it's terribly hard, ya know?], but I was wondering if there's this really easy way to do it that everyone but me knows about.
Thanks,
