Is there any new news of this from the GG guys? I haven't heard anything about it in quite awhile. Is there an expected release date yet? Melv's last plan concerning it was Aug 21, 2004. I discussed this with him via email and he said keep checking the Products page - any idea when this beauty will pop up on there?

Does the offer still stand on receiving a beta? Myself and the rest of my team have our design document written and are merely waiting on the release of this to start on the programming.
EDIT: Oh, and I forgot about that .plan - woops :P

Yeah, I wish I would have known about that offer. I would have liked to get a beta as well. From my undertsanding it was supposed to be used for GID, but looks like quite a few didn't.Does the offer still stand on receiving a beta? It's being looked into, but there are no definites on whether or not it will be available. I'm hoping so, though I don't know if I dare to try to learn it and make a game at the same time.
One thing that I would suggest is using another application to prototype your gameplay for quick and easy integration. I've been using Game Maker to prototype my snowball game (well, at least until my DS and Super Mario 64 started sucking my willpower away). It's extremely easy to use and nice for rapid prototyping 2D games. Plus, if gives your artists a context to work with. Even though I know SDL very well, I decided to use Game Maker simply because I wouldn't have to build anything from scratch and could work on the game itself quickly and easily.

We're always committed to "It will ship when its ready" but, that should be very very soon. After we get the OS X & Linux Version of RTS Starter Kit out the door you'll be hearing lots about T2D Early Adopter Release.

as opposed to 3D games?
So a 2D engine..
or is that Torque 2D as in Torque Version 2, the follow up...then again TSE is the next step forward so 2D may simpy mean 2D :)

It's 2D.
Torque 3D Owner Eric Forhan
He and Craig Bell also joined in on the recent Game in a Day contest. Craig posted some screenshots in his .plan.
I had gotten a copy of T2D for the contest but just was unable to learn it quickly, much less create a game. However, even in it's state now it looks like something that even a non-programmer with some scripting knowledge could do magic with it.
