Okay, now that I found that gmax is out of the question. What do you guy's think of blender. I am downloading it now. Has anyone had any luck with it. Or does anybody have an opinion on it.

Blender is pretty good, really can't beat the price. The interface takes some getting used to, but it's no worse than any other 3d modelling program really. A relatively small amount of tutorials and documentation can make the learning curve rather steep though. The exporter works nicely though so you can use your creations for torque. It may not be the best program ever, but its quite acceptable at its price point.

Yeah, it's an improvement. If they get better UV mapping tools, that'd be too good.

I didnt even know that Blender had its own mapping tools. I was just about to ask if you could use UVmapper with it, you know the one from Ken's book.

The internal Blender UV tools are rather basic (although they've been improving them).

Well, you can use external tools, in a way. You could always export the mesh to OBJ, muck with it, then re-import it. That'd break some parenting and any vertex weighting and assignments. The internal Blender UV tools are rather basic (although they've been improving them).
