Hi, I just purcshed the Inde License for Torq and downloaded and have installed. Haven't had a chance to play around with it.
Just thought I would stop by the forum and say, Hi!
I am probably going to be asking lots of questions in the next couple of months.
Meanwhile, back to work.

And if you haven't picked up Ken Finney's 3D Game Programming All in One, then that's a great way to get up to speed on scripting.

On Friday the 5th, I ordered the 3D Game Programming All in One from Amazon, yes I used the link, and went for the free shipping option, figured I could wait the 5 to 9 business days. Checked the tracking number today and it is out for Delivery! 2 business days for free shipping, you gotta love it.
I figure I am going to be pouring through the book for the next couple of weeks, tinker and then I will probably be posting on here with a lots of more questions.
I am hoping within the next couple of months to have a basic arena with 2 guys weilding sticks beating each other over the head. Then once I can reach that Milestone, then I should be able to expand on it.
Currently, I have 4 friends that are going to be working on this. I am going to be doing scripting, 1 will be general content consultant/scripting, my Wife will be doing skinning/artwork, and 1 will be doing modelling.
We have come up with the name of DNGN Games (Does Nothing, Goes Nowhere Games)
Our main goal is to take all of the small amount of coding, scripting, modelling, skinning, that we all do and give it a focus. Something to work on. We are not concerned about actually having a playable game in 3, 6 months or 2 years. We just want to play with it. If it happens to actually go somewhere, then great, if not, we are still having fun...
So, I am will be back later to bug lots of people on questions and yes, I promise to use the search button before asking!

Welcome to the TGE community. Keeping it fun is what its all about...
As you gain skill and understanding I highly recommend you consider having your team try www.GameInaDay.com. I think you'll find that along with all the other skills you need that finding the X factor or fun essence of a game idea (in simple playable prototypes), before you get into the mechanics of building a game is a very useful skill no matter what your project is - keeping it fun makes playing your game as it progresses very rewarding.
