Bad framerates on interiors

by Anthony Rosenbaum · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 10/25/2004 (6:19 pm) · 26 replies

Ever Since mid August around when the particle emitters were release I have been getting horrible framerates when an interior is view, specifically the demo building. But even my framerates slow down with the orc tower.

Note this only occurs on my low end machine
I have a
G force 3
2 gh pentium processor
768 ram

Is anyone else experianceing this.

The first version of the demo ran fine but recent builts are viscous.

I'd like to add that I have this problem as well. geforce 6800 with latest 81.98 drivers, get a solid 100fps during release builds with terrain. The second I look at an interior, the framerate dives to single digits. The minute I turn away its back up to 100.

Here is a screen from the a pix run. The most significant jump in the numbers appear to be in the "SetVertexShader calls this frame" as this image shows.

The picture shows a long period of 40-50 fps, and as soon as I turn toward the interiors the framerate goes to < 2. Pretty annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

There was a bug with Geforce cards and glowing effects.

It was really noticable in the ORC when the camera would show him it would literrally crawl along.

They are aware of the bug, but no eta on a fix.

I can look at the orc no problem, runs fine. Interiors are what crawls.

The 7800gs plays interiors fine, there are no smear effects like there were on my old 6200.
Im not sure if its the drivers though, i doubt it but has anyone tried downloading the 84.21 drivers from nvidia.com? they seem to have many improvements.

Some more info. The horrible framerate is limited to legacy terrain + interiors in TSE. If I put the same interiors in an Atlas terrain everything runs fine.
