Hello,
I work for Game-Arena Interactive the creators of Age of Darkness. We have been developing the AoD game engine for use with Age of Darkness as we go along. I have talked it over with the head guys here and we have decided to make the engine Free and Open Source to anyone interested. I am working on makeing a website as I type this and will hopefully have the site up by the end of the day with more infomation about the engine on it.
It's still a work in progress engine but its free and open source. It's designed just for 3D MMORPGs. Its even more aimed at GeForce graphics cards and the GeForce 3 more so. It makes use of ALOT of GeForce only features.
More Infomation as I get it typed

We are looking at makeing the server side scaleable meaning that you can have multi-PCs act all as one central server. Think of it as Load Balanceing.
As for the non GeForce users we are thinking about you. Graphics wise it just wont be as appealing as if you had a GeForce card. :(
I suggest you get a GeForce card though since there only around $50 for a GeForce 2 and around $150 for a GeForce 3

Ok the Network Codeing is going to use TCP/IP because alot of the infomation that is sent back and forth has to be recieved before the client can continue on. But as a result we are putting in and making avabile alot of client prediction that is going to help reduce any lag issues. We are looking at makeing the server side scaleable meaning that you can have multi-PCs act all as one central server. Sounds good so far, I look forward to seeing your website once it is up. And you might want to run a spellcheck on your posts before posting, it will help you sound more credible. Just trying to be helpful.

well i am palnning on getting a g2 but i'm thinking more in the scale of the majority of users playing the games... if they have the latest ATI or wahtever they aren't going to change to a geforce just for one gaem...

I ran the first tests on the game engine yesterday and managed to push out 45million polys with my G3 useing the libs provided by nVIDIA for the effects.
The one thing I really like about the G3 card is that with only around 10 lines of code you can turn a Realistic 3D world into a pencial skeching drawing style world. (Everything looks like it was made with a pencial)
I'll post some screenshots here in a bit of what it looks like in that mode.
That feature was put in because it is being used for a monster style race in Age of Darkness. (More or less there color blind everything appears black & white to them) Very neat feature never done before.
We also have the Blur feature that can be turned on and off with easy and looks very realistic.
I'm still working on the website :( Since I'm not a webmaster by trade it takes me some time.

I understand that and we do plan to support the casual gamer with just a standard 3D card. But seeing as the market is going now days nVIDIA seems to be at the top and they dont seem like they are going to be moveing from there anytime soon.I ran the first tests on the game engine yesterday and managed to push out 45million polys with my G3 useing the libs provided by nVIDIA for the effects.

yeah i'm just saying that 3dfx went down because their cards didn't stay up to par but ATI still seems to be pumping out cards and people must be buying them if they are still in business (geforces have been aroudn waht 3 years or so?). man by January i'll have my comp upgraded from 450mhz and a voodoo3 2000 to a 1.4ghz and a g3 =) so man i can't wait to get that machine up =)

What about "Realms of Darkness" I believe that one is not taken =)
Btw. I would also recommend not using tcp/ip as the sole communication protocol (ask anarchy and war online users why this is not a cleaver idea) think udp and a propietary communications scheme I know is tougher but its worth the effort.

Im pretty glad you are making an open source mmorpg engine =) However as I have said before in a previous post the name you are trying to use has been copyrighted by a texan company I would really suggest you guys to change the name to something else before they notice. The fact that is free open source, doesnt mean it can use a name that is already copyrighted. What about "Realms of Darkness" I believe that one is not taken =)
