Newbie Trying To Use MS C++ Express

by TyLem · in Torque Game Engine · 09/30/2004 (8:47 pm) · 45 replies

I have read all of the information on getting started but still do not have a clue. I want to start making games and do not know exactly how to start. I have everything downloaded in my compiler. I keep getting these errors in my compiler, so I clean and rebuild and when I rebuild the errors return. When I clean it the errors are gone, but you can not start creating a game unless you compile it clean . I am totally stuck.

Not blaming you. You obviously own a license. I am very suspiscious of the "people you cannot name in public" that appear to be using you. Nobody in the community has "ruined" your reputation as a game developer. Your questions have pretty well created your own reputation, be it good or bad.

OK Thanks Jeff I am glad to know that my rep is not destroyed with you ,I do not believe they are fraud or pirates, because they already knew all of the steps and downloads, they even had SDK already, I figured you really have to be a Torquer to know about that...so I thought their claims were legitimate. I pray they have not used me I hate being used. They told me they had just purchased it in the FPS Demo chat so I thought that was pretty cool, we decided to team up and go through it together. They had already installed most of the stuff when I read the "Getting Started Letter". If they contact me again through the MSN IM with any questions I will foward them to you personally. I have noticed they have dropped off with questions since the free compiler did not work, however I am still a believer that they are torque owners.

I do not know any of them by name but only had the email address through an msn chat, I never gave any thought to why they asked me for assistance, but thought it was ok to bann together and walk through the steps from start to finish with other Torque owners.

I am used to being the team leader at the University I graduated from and was designated the leader for many years and headed projects to it's completion. In Torque we went over the reading and would break up each section and do exaclty what was posted and go through the steps together, It is great since I am used to team leadership. I would ONLY post questions that I HAD PERSONALLY..... They seem to have run into the same problems I had. I don't know maybe they have made their own threads as well. We just got along well and decided to ban together.

I just graduated This September and joined Garage Games because I need to keep up with technology, it grows very fast and even with a BSIT degree it's easy to fall behind. I have no interest in Piracy nor want nothing to do with people involved in Piracy that is a Criminal Act and as an honorable member of Torque I stand with high ethics to remain loyal, I want to further and Master this new career not destroy it.
