To learn, To Build

Hi,
I have a nice base of international talent that is dedicated and loyal to the team. We have several Coders who eat up script and low level code like it was candy. We have an excellent author who is presently writting up a wonderful story line and time table for our game. We even have one good 3d artist from slovonia. But what we don't have are good 2d artists, mappers, and sound engineers.
So if you have any decent talents, wither I listed them or not, please e-mail me or reply. We want dedication and loyalty more then we want talent though. So if your serious about learning let me know if you can work with a team.
We got a game that will be out in 2 years like no other. We will be using either the synaptic soup engine or the Destiny3d engine. We are a startup company, but that just means we dream more then the rest. And that's not a bad thing.
We do have a few investors already lined up so once our demo is finished it could be a paying job.

Of course if our demo isn't thought to be worthy by the investor then you better beleive he won't sink that much into the demo. Then again, with a good demo I don't have to rely on connections but can find investors easily.
There are alot of investors out there, it only takes a VERY well written buisness plan and excellent demo with proof of your members talents to get them to invest this much money into your game. They usually are looking for 20% ROI so if they don't think your game will profit a million dollars they won't bother. Plus you have to understand the legal problems with investors. Most investors don't just give away money in blind faith. They want part ownership of the company or priority in payment options that grant them the right to recoup all losses out of your personal belongings if needed. Some will even pull funding and hold you in subject to their losses if they feel that you do not run the company by their expectations.
I haven't met a rich investor that was not looking out for himself and looking to make a large profit. They don't care if you don't make a dime. So make sure that your demo is so well developed that you don't have to rely on loan shark investor but on an established investment group with legal representation.
So in other words if you are looking for an investor make sure your demo is finished, rated excellent reviews, and have enough money for an attorney to use during investment talks.
If you just need alittle money do what other people do. Get a loan from a bank using your car or house as security. If you do not have enough credit to do this then no matter how badly you want the money you won't get it.
I think most good games these days will require alot of sacrafice. In such sacrafice does creativity flow.

Investor is the uncle of one of our members. It's good to be filthy rich. LOL With a good demo we are looking at a operating budget of 450,000.00 over a 14 month time frame after demo is finished. During demo development though all team members are working for free with no hope for reimbursement. We have fun and we learn, and that is what makes it all worth it. I'm not going to risk bankrupcy and losing face by getting money via investor till a proper demo is finished so I expect our demo time frame to be 6-8 months. Of course if our demo isn't thought to be worthy by the investor then you better beleive he won't sink that much into the demo. Then again, with a good demo I don't have to rely on connections but can find investors easily.

I'm sure you can hook me up with investores (which i badly need) and in return i can give you royalities from my project.
I have a small HL mod i created very fast to show investors. I'll show it to the ones you'll hook me up with and if they decide to invest in my company you'll get royalities. (I have a big project i want someone to invest in, not the mod).
What do you think?

Firstly, you do not seek for connection with a company who has not yet established value, relationship and outstanding reputation within the game business.
The chances are, you won't be in any luck and will just waste your time. Why do I say that you asked? Well firstly, they have not even signed a contract with the publisher, and if so, it will at least take him 3 successful titles in order to help grab connection for other studios. Secondly, it ruins your reputation as well as your company's reputation. In the future when you are ready to provide proper recruitment, people will not intend to be interested because due to lack of professionalism. To approach investor, as discouraging as it may sound, you're not in a good shape to even reach that status. Showing off mods will not get you 3-5 million of funding. Even if you run the top notch mod in the community, the chances are 1/50 to actually receive funding. The PC game industry over the late 1999 is the time when competitions arise significantly.
People start out with mods for franchise such as Half-Life, Quake series, and many other games which supports modiability. There have been way too many moding teams who claim to be professionals and attempt to get into the industry. Unfortunately quality professional team, as well as publisher suffers from discouragement to meet developers. Because there has been just way too many Indies developer with little to no talent to assure that the product will generate great profit. Publishers have been contact by many of these so called "Indies poor quality developer" which encourage them not to fall into the "big hole dug on the ground" again. If you're really serious about getting into the industry, I suggest you learning business and what makes a game that sells before even approaching these publishers and venture capitalist. Another tip is that, there is no way Daniel will provide any information to raise competition against them. My advice is, put more "real effort" and learn how this business operate before you have this intention to get your team into the commercial channel. I am not specifically aiming down at you, it's my advice, and you can either accept it or ignore it. This is totally up to you. I am also grateful that you discover Garage Games because this community is specialize to benefit independent developers; however there is a draw back to the game industry. Just my 2 cent, Good luck with your team and I wish you the best!
