Lets play Tribes 1, 2 and 3 at IGC!!

#1 Hmm... let's see.... a conference for Independant Game Developers.... part of which is to showcase the games those independant developers made... spend time playing a "corporate developed" game...

It just doesn't feel like it's in the spirit of the whole IGC theme ;)

#2 I agree with Labrat.

IGC is a celebration regarding what we do and our stuggle to make enjoyable games that people will love. It is a chance to talk to one another about what has gone right and what hasn't, give feed back and suggestions to one another on how to better ourselves and our products and lastly have an enjoyable time doing so and knowing that we are slowly opening up doors.

The idea of playing Tribes 1, 2 or even Vengeance is insulting because there are going to be games there that your peers have slaved over a year to develop, and playing some non-Indie game such as the ones you mentioned degrates the whole spirit of what they have done and what they are trying to accomplish.

#3 I love the tribes franchise probably more than anyone but I think I would want to play the indie games more if I was going. Besides we know Tribes gameplay, don't you want to play something new that a fellow indie has put their heart into?

#4 Legends will be played at IGC, that should satiate the needs of all the Tribes players there :)

#5 The Legends touny last year was just like a night of Tribes!!

#6 Last year's games were fun, and I totally want to play whatever and everything folks bring, but a lot of the year games were not totally playable/buggy, etc ( but the raffles for vid. cards was tres nice as a consequence). AND I cant imagine any tribes fan NOT wanting to see/play T:V!!

Legends was cool, but if I remember correctly yoshi was just kicking everyone's ass, a sign perhaps that legends is TOO much like tribes?? (spinfusor, ahem ahem!)

DHL- been playing randomly, cant wait to play mo...

Void War
Any of the RC games

+many more I cant remember at the moment...

And I really think to say that "we cant play this because its a commercial game" is a knee-jerk reaction. We are not fighting against them, just trying to compete and what better way than to play them?? Esp. since the tribes franchise is in some ways part of GG. To insult corporate types is NOT the spirit of GG, its to help folks be indies or to get them in w/ the gorillas w/ forewarning on the caviats... That, and to play and make great/fun/unique games!!!!

#7 Actually, if I recall, Mark was kicking everyone's ass at Legends, including Yoshi, but he wasn't allowed to get any prizes :)

The point of the LAN party is to play indie games made by people on the floor. Not only is T:V not indie, I highly doubt that anyone from Irrational will be there to show it off.

#9 T:V at IGC doesn't sound like a good idea to me. There are other cons that take care of that.
