Its nice that there is this milestone list associated with the TSE, but
can we get some timelines tagged on there as well?
how long to completion do you estimate? 1 month, 3 months? 6 months? 2 years?
This type of information would be really handy to those of us considering using the
TSE in a project.
Thanks.

Definatly, you seem very sure :) There could always be even bigger opertunities that suddenyl arise for GG slowing Dev down..

True enough, my "definate" guess was based on feedback on this subject from past posts.

Anyway, the answer to the question I heard is "When it's ready." It kills me too not to have a clue whether TSE will be "done" (whatever that may be) in 4 months or 4 years but GG has repeatedly stated that they will not give out any dates on this and it will simply be done when it is done.

Hrm, I guess that I interpreted the author's question differently. To me TheMartian was asking for a date when TSE would be finished, or at least for stepping-stone dates for each milestone, not how long can he wait and still get the EA deal, so that he can get an idea of when it will be useful enough to start development with. Of course I could be wrong here. Also, this post is in the TSE Private Forums, isn't that one you have to obtain access via the purchase of TSE? Again, I could be wrong.Anyway, the answer to the question I heard is "When it's ready." It's already pretty usable, there are several projects pretty far along that are using the TSE tech. Whether it's useful enough for you to get going is up to you.

It will not be 4 years. We're gunning hard to get it ready around the middle of next year. It might take longer to get it up and as solid as the TGE, but we're hoping to be feature complete by then. It's already pretty usable, there are several projects pretty far along that are using the TSE tech. Honestly if I didn't need the OpenGL support I'd be developing my current project in TSE rather than TGE, from the poking around I've done it's plenty stable/featureful enough to be developing on right now if a cross platform release in the near future isn't one of your top priorities.

@kevin - yup thats exactly what I meant :) thanks.

Cool thats all I was really looking for was a ballpark timeline on "completion", sounds like your shooting for the middle of next year. I was asking mostly because there are things in it that are broken and would need to be fixed and if you were going to get it fixed soon we wouldnt need to do it.@kevin - yup thats exactly what I meant :) thanks.

Reason: GG has said over and over, when the milestones are reached, no more early adopter savings. They have been generous enough to say when they HOPE to complete TSE and up the price. The idea is, if you are even remotely serious about future TSE development, then you'll get it now to save the bucks.
If I had to guess at when they'll be finished, I'd say "Definately less than 3 months before the savings is gone"
