How about making a strategy game about amateurs making MMORPGs? It'd be almost impossible to win, ofcourse.

Don't think you can copyright the word Tycoon. Just the specific use of it so Fridge magnet Tycoon is a perfectly legal name for a game so is fish catcher tycoon etc

LMAO!

Heh - talk about a niche audience, but I'd buy this one in a heartbeat!
Or you can build your own MMORPG and play it for real - though I hear the game is REALLY REALLY hard... and expensive.

Technically, names are trademarked, not copywritten, but yeah, changing it even slightly is enough to make you safe.I say make it. :-)

Wouldn't you know it, there actually is a game similar to this called Game Tycoon! not only that but our very own Eric Petersen was the localization producer.

Thats pretty cool actually. I think a game based on a company making games as a RTS would be pretty fun actually. hint hint the story of Dynamix and Garage Games getting started. :) I'd definately buy a game like that.

I hope the idea does actually go somewhere because it has promise.

I'd have to agree with those who think that this is a good game idea. I'd definitely buy a game like this were it actually developed. The self-referential humor appeals to me as does the idea of yet another tycoon game to play because I dig those.I hope the idea does actually go somewhere because it has promise.

if you made an online world where you basically rolled all the different tycoons into one persistent world...
the goal, besides the enjoyment of management and enjoyment of each type of facility (some like all that goes into a zoo or a restaurant) ...would be to amass the largest fortune.
There might be heavy balance issues regarding where NPCs went and how much disposable cash they had...but might be fun as hell.

Sewage Tycoon would be good. You'd have to know how to manage your (and everyone elses), um, stuff.

This is funny, I think 80% of people get into game developement to do MMORPGs
and its sad because there are so many other fun games out there to make!
GO MARBLE BLAST!!!
