Milestone 1 dates?

:)
I can see that Milestone 1 is complete... I'm wondering about what GG have in terms of a schedule for completing milestones for TSE. When do they see TSE being complete I guess is a better question.

Milestone one is not quite complete yet, I still have to write the new screenshot module and do some OpenGL work with GFX. Everything else is pretty much set though.

Oh and while we're at it - will TSE and TGE go similar ways regarding those big changes you're planning for TGE? And... will the TGE repository come in a SVN flavour too eventually?

Nice... Oh and an off topic but pertinent question, will TSE be making the move to the XBox platform... as a XBox developer this would be the ice-breaker. ;)

I can not comment on our future Xbox plans at this point. Sorry.

Althought this would be a big step and great achievemnt for "the company" GarageGames, this would be a big step "out of the Garage".
What indie game developer can afford to license an XBox SDK??

I really don't understand why people are so keen on seeing TSE on XBox.Althought this would be a big step and great achievemnt for "the company" GarageGames, this would be a big step "out of the Garage".

For instance, I currently work in a games company, but I want to start my own company... Torque represents to me a chance to start out with some decent tech (without having to write the engine from scratch)... Now I've amassed a team of 18 people (artists and programmers) to develop an indie "unknown" title and we are seriously considering licensing the commercial version per seat (if and only if TGE or TSE appears on the xbox, which it looks like it will potentially) for the reasons above otherwise we will be forced to write one from scratch(not my idea of fun). The only 2 things that worry me about using TGE\TSE are:
1) Architecture is a little too PC centric
2) No PS2 version
I mean we are 'indie', we don't have any money to spend on massive amounts of tools, have an engine or have a publisher or are getting paid for what we're doing but we're giving it a go... remember that is why GG have a commercial version of the license.

They can't... but MS runs an incubator program by which they will give you a dev kit to work on to bring your title to xbox and get published...For instance, I currently work in a games company, but I want to start my own company... I believe the point of GG signing the deal with MS is to give people that are developing games with torque the chance to have there games on an xbox without having to pay for a lisence. So now the chance of having your game on a console is possible. After reading the news about it, it seems that ms and gg have teamed up to get indie games on the xbox and not just big commercial games. But I could be wrong about that.

Wow, 18 people is pretty good, especially if they all have industry experience. Since you are an XBox developer, porting TSE yourself probably wouldn't be a massive challenge. We may have some help for you in the future, can't confirm anything though ;)
If you're really serious about it and want more info, send an email to Jeff Tunnell, or Jay Moore.
And come to IGC, there's going to be some people there that would be good to talk to not just about the Torque, but starting up your own company.

By PC-centric I assume you mean Windows/Mac/Linux, and not just Windows yes? I agree that Torque isn't set up optimally for consoles right now. I don't know exactly what the official line is on the Xbox, but I can say that Marble Blast was just getting our feet wet. Porting Marble Blast to the Xbox was a lot of work, and we certainly don't want to do all that work again for our future titles.

Markus, the point is that even if you can't afford an XBox XDK, you could still see your Torque game on the XBox one day.
If you make a really fun game on the PC and you're using Torque, which will have an XBox port, then you're in a strong position to get your title on the XBox. XBox wants fun games and if you're using a highly cross-platform engine that's easy to port with and already has games running on XBox...

Yep that's what I mean. For instance I really have *no* chance porting torque or tse to ps2 because it's based around a memory model of gimme gimme gimme :) which doesn't help on the ps2, where 32megs of ram is the limit... but having said that Torque is incredible value for money and an engine to watch closely, especially TSE (i know people in the business are keen to see where it heads :) )

6 programmers, 9 artists, 1 sound guy, 2 QA :)
No... but it's the time factor, and seeing that crunch time for us here has been extended until first quarter next year, doesn't look like I'll get much sleep :/
In terms of porting TSE over? We might have a chat in the future :)
I would... but I live 10,000km or 6,250 miles away from you guys in Australia! :) there'll be no IGC for me this year, maybe next...

Thomas, all I can say is, give us a call. I think that TSE can and will meet and exceed your needs.
