Dont understand?

Okay im developin a rts/fps meaning i press a button it goes into rts mode and vice versa. Tho do to this eould i have to make difrent models for the same thing for the two since rts mode is more far away while fps mode is well first person?

You could use levels of detail for this. Like that you don't really use different models, but different levels of detail depending on the distance of the camera to the object/size on the screen. Then if you are in fps mode, the more detailed version will be selected, in rts mode, the camera will be far away, the models will be smaller and a lower level of detail will be selected.

Why don't you just make like 500-700 poly characters and enemies, maybe 800-900 for the main one. That way it will look awesome when in fps and rts.

May I suggest starting on something smaller. I believe you're the same person who thought that he had to make an FPS in Torque and then switch to 2d graphics (Instead of merely changing the camera angle and modding a few things) with a click of the button. This is 2 times as much work.
