Damn graphics card problem...

Well, i have saved up enough to get myself a Geforce 6800 GT, and i waited 3 weeks for it too get in stock and get it delivered, so i whack it in, boot up and tried out doom 3 with the highest settings possible, it looked fantastic and still at a good frame rate, tried a few other games, then tried Lightwave, now I could have nearly thrown the card out the window at this point, Lightwave is a big part of what i do, infact it is everything, and it just didn't want to work at all. For some unknown reason when the openGL viewport starts up it crashes, everytime. I've tried all the drivers for the card possible, lightwave 7 through til 8, everything i can think of. But no...

So i am asking this, what do you think could be wrong? I mean I don't know what it could be, I'm thinking it must be to do with Lightwave itself, why it doesnt like this card im not sure...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't use lightwave, but I assume that it should have software renderer and Direct3d, have you tried those as opposed to openGL?

Also have you tried searching/asking in Lightwave support forums?
