Softimage XSI price reduction

2 years ago I posted about the big Maya price reduction, now Softimage has delivered a return - a version of XSI for $495.

The pricing for the various versions is now $495 / $1995 / $6995.

Seems pretty exciting to me.

This is good news. Looks like the $495 version has just about everything an indie game artist might want. We may have to look into getting an XSI exporter for Torque! (oy, more exporters to keep track of :P)

Oops, looks like the $500 version is missing Poly Reduction (Multires). Not a huge deal, but makes LOD have to be manual without some outside plugin. Not the end of the world, but certainly would be a handy feature for games.

Ahh well though, it still looks like it will be solid competition for GameSpace in the three digit price range, and for Maya/Max in the four digit.

Hey Alex, what about an official LW exporter? ;)

That's pretty cool, that's putting XSI in the same realm as GameSpace now for fairly cheap modelers.
