Behind firewall for CVS - help!

by Mike Beard · in Torque Game Engine · 07/22/2004 (4:45 pm) · 4 replies

I'm just starting and I can't get CVS to work. I'm behind a firewall and know that I need to open port 2401. I have a NetGear router/firewall and I've tried port forwarding, uPnP, and enabling services for this port in various different ways. I'm not able to get through.

I'm at a loss. For the server IP address on my firewall, do I put my address or GarageGames (216.116.32.50 - right?). I've tried both ways to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Have you checked the CVS FAQ?

Wysardry,

Yup. Checked first thing. That's how I know about port 2401 needing to be open.

Any ideas?

No, I'm afraid not. My firewall only requires me to let it know which programs are allowed to have Internet and/or server rights.

Okay! This morning I remembered that I (for some forgotten reason) had Norton Firewal installed. Disabled that and then reset my port forwarding and viola! it worked!!

It was either that or my machine was in a weird state (or router) and shutting the machine down and restarting this morning resolved it or, possibly, the router did something and resolved itself.

Regardless, I've been able to log in to CVS and am downloading as I type.

Regards,
Mike
