GBA Engine

Hey,
I'm looking to create a simple GBA game or app and I am looking for an engine. I know about HAM, but I am wondering what everyone recommends. Is GBA HAM really that good? I'm hoping that I can find something more simple and easy to use.

I always thought making a game for GBA would be a fun challenge. If only I had the spare time to play GBA games, let alone write them. XD

I find it amazing to see how advanced the technology is now. A tiny little device is now capable of playing games that a few years ago you would think could only be played on a console. It won't be long before we'll be able to port Torque games to the GBA! ;)

If you want to make or play fun games, the GBA is an excellent place to play. They've been doing gameboy development so long, they have some extremely polished games.

Seeing as you can't make your own ROMs with Catapult, I'd say stick with HAM. If you really want to learn about the GBA internals, you can avoid HAM altogether or gradually move away from the HAM routines and code your own.

You cannot create your own ROMs with the freeware version, though.
For $19.95 you get a single license, with upgrades/support, and export ability for a limited time. You still cannot make ROMs.
For $249.00 you get a 5-developer license with full ROM creating ability.
Or you can join them to make games (artist, programmer, musician, etc.). They have an interesting point-system where you can earn a percentage of royalties made on a game you help to make.
