New garage games website?

by Mayor McCheese · in Torque Game Engine · 07/05/2004 (11:50 pm) · 5 replies

Heyaz,

Is the new front page supposed to be a new GG website? Will you guys be moving the game selling section elsewhere? I am just giving a little constructive critic here but the new page doesnt look like a place to purchase games. The game store section really seems secondary the way its laid out. It doesnt really look like a place id like to sell a product on. Sorry. Its the web-dev side of me coming back from the grave.

Danke,
Juan

The large banner (currently TSE) is for new product announcements. The four smaller items below will also be for new news and products. The new site is designed to reduce clutter while still keeping new and important items at the top of the stack, both from the game buying and developer sides of the site.

Personally, I think it accomplishes all of these goals. I may be biased. Remember that GG isn't just a game sales site, but also the home of Torque.

A full listing of games can be found by entering into the Game Store section.

Heck. I never actually go to the front page much as I just hit my personal page and do my work from there. Looks sweet and really shows off TSE well.

Understood. I know its the home of Torque and everything but the old front page seemed to push that fact and the fact that GG is also a publisher more. Just my 2 cents so Ill just be quiet now :).

Thank You!,

I always try and enter the site via the front page rather than via my bookmarks since I was missing things (like when games were launched!).

If you're going to have a fixed width front page, you should 'fix' the size of the header too. It looks ugly when it matches the window size and the rest doesn't.

I actually preferred the old layout, but the color / design is nice.

You know, funny thing, I've been looking over my shoulder and seeing a lot of tabs in Alex's copy of Photoshop lately...
