Milkshape: IFL textures: Success

by Rex · in Artist Corner · 07/01/2004 (6:38 am) · 5 replies

I ran Chris Robertson's Milkshape exporter thru a IFL test this morning(with his exclosed example...:)), and it was great to see the cube switching textures inside the -showTool...!!!, now I can git some burning flames on my burning projectiles and anything else for that matter. Youse SF guys are gonna love this for monitor screens...:). Chris deserves a big round of Applause for this.../me clapping, smiling, giggling...

Does the IFL display inside milkshape? or just in the showtool/game? such is important for my matrix info :)

Thru the way it's setup, I don't believe Ms3d will render the animation; you use a filecopy of the first frame to UV map and path direct for the exporter, and it doesn't get used at runtime, the IFL takes over. I removed the 'dummy' texture from the root folder to be certain. It would be a nice feature of Milkshape to render such textures, but I was only getting errors by loading any non-image format, eh; can't have it all on the Milkfarm...:)

PS-...and I didn't check for transparency, D'oh! Well, Java One is over and tomorrow I'm free to reek havoc in the laboratory, Mmmwhwaaaa. Report at 11, wish I could upload images here, there, somewhere....

8:45 Am PST...ya, definitely need some form of hosting,:), I got Translucency working on this same shape. I needed to make the object dynamic by scripting it, and then the texture animation plays. As an example of Translucency; I took the lightning1,2,3.png and checked the boxes Tranlucency and Additive[also did a Subtractive method...just for looks; produces Negative lightnging(black)with redish 'glow'], and I am viewing a continously looping masked lightning bolt as an object in Realm Wars right now.
