CVS Bandwidth Limit ?

by Sikosis · in Torque Game Engine · 06/20/2004 (12:29 am) · 6 replies

Cvs [login aborted]: You have exceeded your allocated bandwidth for today

Is there a limit ? I just bought Torque and I trashed my engine twice and now I can't download a new copy. I know I should have taken a backup.

Hrmmm ... oh well, guess I can't do anything now. Suppose I'll just read the documentation.

"I just bought Torque and I trashed my engine twice and now I can't download a new copy."

You can do a CVS update which will overwrite modified/snag deleted files without having to "backup" or download the whole thing from CVS again...

CVS is your friend...

Anyway appears to be a new day, so I've downloaded and backed up my tree.

Now to start playing ...

It might be an idea to copy everything to a CDR disc or compress it all to a .zip archive before modifying anything this time.

Yeh that's what i did when I got it last night.

Luckily, it was 11pm local CVS time when I was hitting the server, so I waiting a couple of hours and then it was the next day and I was able to download and I rar-ed up a copy.

I use CVS with write access, so I'm always extra careful on those -d commands in case it includes something. I guess thats not a worry here.

There is a limit, but its really pretty reasonable. You could do a full check out and then some every day, but please don't. This allows gg to not have its band width completely decimated. And if worse comes to worse you can just wait til tommorow ;)

Sure I understand. It was totally my bad.

Yeh I noticed the full source is 120mb, so sucking that down twice in one day is heaps.

Just going back to the -d param for updating, does that also mean, if I have a "test" directory - it will get blown away when I do a CVS update -d ?
