Rotation in World Editor under OS X? (and other Alt functions)

by BlackRichard · in Torque Game Engine · 06/08/2004 (6:07 am) · 7 replies

I'm using the editor from the demo version of TGE to create levels for Orbz and, for the life of me, have been unable to figure out how to rotate objects in the World Editor using the mouse. Punching in numbers works for some things but gets nigh impossible for me when working with multiple axes.

All the instructions I've seen for rotation, scaling, etc. use the Alt key, which is not extant on the Mac. I have found one exception to this: Cmd-L does work instead of Alt-L for relighting a scene.

(Note, only if the left Cmd key is implmented as the Alt substitute, that my left Cmd key does not work--need a new keyboad. The right Cmd key does work though for Alt-L, as I mentioned, so I presume that's not it.)

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, as I'm usually just over in the Orbz fora. But this is driving me nuts and limiting my level development and I've gotten no responses over there (well, one that was pretty random). If it's the wrong forum, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

I've had some luck with command-atl-control combinations, but never wrote them down.

Maybe you should post this on the Mac forum.

Under Linux, I have to go full screen to get that to work. No idea for Mac.

This may be an actual mac bug. The key to substitute for alt- *should* be option- but I am not sure if it is.

Thanks for the comments.
- I can't get any key combos to work w/ Cmd (other than relight). I've tried variations w/ Cmd, Opt, Cntrl, & Shft in combination with the mouse.
- Nice thought on full-screen mode, since I don't normally use that. No go though.

I've informed Josh of this, he is the one upkeeping the mac codebase, so hopefully a fix will be in head soon.

"Soon" could be rough, but in the near future, yes I hope so. :) I hate to do so, but I've had to put some Mac stuff on the back burner while I'm super-busy with other stuff. Trust me, as soon as I can, I will give much, much attention and love to the Mac in order to make up for lost time.

Thanks, Josh! That will make a number of us happy.
