DTS (and all) Transparency problem

by Chris Ochs · in Torque Game Engine · 05/27/2004 (12:40 am) · 4 replies

I'm messing around trying to get transparency and translucency to work with the 3DGPAI1 version of the engine and I've run into problems at every turn.

First I tried to make some windows for a building I have in my terrain, while the PNGs have an alpha mask in them, no dice.

So I figured I'd move on alittle bit and try some other stuff. Next up, making a tree. I made a quicky 200Poly tree and a quicky texture which had some transparency in it. I know how to do transparency in other games, but I figured I'd take a look at how the book says to do things.

I learn that I need to include a :Trans tag after my material name, easy enough. It also says to drag the trans. bar in ms3d to the center. All is done. While the transparency is working, it's also making the entire model semi-transparent.

Here is an image:

I've banged my head on this all night and have probably tried every different combination of doing things, and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Well, disreguard the Ms3D trans. issue.

Should have checked the 3D Modeling forum first, the thread there solved my Ms3d2Dts problem, but I still can't get trans on my Difs.

Difs doesn't support transparency, you can make your transparent shape in ms3d and use theme in your interiors, except you compile the whole engine with some people resources.

Mgm... you might want to research things before you say things so confidently...
