Sorry for this post, but these games are taking longer then Half-Life 2! I want to play them!(Others as well, but these 2 are high on my list)

I think that most of us here have some very lofty ideas and simply have no clue just what we are getting into. The best ideas are ones that can be done pretty quickly--say within six months.
Of course, part of the problem is also in team members working in regular jobs. It's easy to think that one could put in an extra 20 hours a week on a game, but that fun eventually wears off and gets old.

Lol Add a project I'm involved with, Trajectory Zone, to that too . ;)I think that most of us here have some very lofty ideas and simply have no clue just what we are getting into. The best ideas are ones that can be done pretty quickly--say within six months.

Chris you need to be patient. You need to realize that many people working on these games are doing it in their spare time. They have full time jobs and need to take care of their families. BTW Half-Life 2 has a ton of people working on it. Most teams hear are probably between 1 and 5 people.

Agree with Michael.

With that said though I think we also need to look at the other side of the coin here, namely the communities attitude (or lack there of) towards games made by its peers. If you guys want to see more games made, and made faster, we here in the community really need to do more about supporting indie made games (ie. purchasing, playing, promoting to friends, etc.).
As you can see this is definately a double edged sword, so before we go about harping on developers lets clean up our own backyards first and get out there and support our great indie development community. As the slogan goes "World domination through collaboration".

I don't see why it is necessary for you to harass these hard working people. They are developing their games using what resources (ie. time, money, assets, tools, etc.) that they have available and as such when they feel that its time to release their game they will. With that said though I think we also need to look at the other side of the coin here, namely the communities attitude (or lack there of) towards games made by its peers. such as this one if mods and the game itself were distributed with basic scripts in
human readable form. I know most developers are worried about having their code
stolen or abused, but when a potential mod author sees that all of the scripts are
distributed only in precompiled form (such as with TT), it is quite discouraging.

I would suggest also that indie developers would be more attracted to communitiessuch as this one if mods and the game itself were distributed with basic scripts in
human readable form. I know most developers are worried about having their code

I think that HL2 comparison was a joke, guys. Lighten up =) I would like to see some of these games finished, but I wouldn't want any of them rushed. It's a pain trying to juggle an earlier release over polish.

I think Chris was just expressing some excitement...and perhaps a little impatience. ;)

Of course the HL2 thing was a joke (although I'd have used Duke Nukem Forever). And, I also think that Lore is a great example of a completed Indie game.I think Chris was just expressing some excitement...and perhaps a little impatience. ;)
