Visibility animation issues with 3dsmax exporter

I am trying to get part of a mesh to be visible only for certain animations using the visibility tracks for two different animations. I am using 3DSMax for my exporter.
I have a basic DTS shape with an "Ambient" animation in it. In that animation I have a visibility track for an object "foo" in which it is always invisible.
I have a second file with the same shape. In this file I have another animation called "anim2". In this animation the object is visible.
When I use the show tool, I see both animations, but when I select the second animation the object foo does not show up.
It seems like the visibility animation from the first animation always wins over the visibility animation from the second. If I make the object visible in the Ambient animation and then invisible in the anim2 animation, then the object is always visible.
If I can't get this to work, I'll try using Justin's resource for hiding part of a model - but does anyone know why this doesn't work?

I would suggest uploading your file to some web space that you have or have access to so that someone else can take a look at the file to better understand your problem and offer solutions to it.Logan
