FPS default model - Are its arms set up incorrectly?

I just noticed something today while I was doing some tests with a model I was making.
I was using the player.max file that is in the default FPS directory as a starting point. When I exported, I noticed that the arms werent in the correct position on my model. I put the original player.dts back in the player directory and started the mission editor back up. Sure enough, the actual default model was doing the same thing. The arm that is holding the handle of the gun seems like it COULD be in the right place but the the hand/arm that would be holding the barrel is too high up. its about 8 inches (game units) too high to actually be holding the gun. It almost looks like the guy is shooting into the sky. But if I grap the gun in the "FFF World", the weapon orientation is all messed up. The gun kind of comes of diagonal from the right hand. Its mostly parallel to the ground, but it points slightly to the right of the model. Obviously, the left hand is no where near the gun.
I did a couple searches but never found anything like this mentioned before in the forums. Has anyone else ever noticed this?
SO, if anyone HAS noticed that, do you know how to fix it to get the arms where they should be? Do I need to just mess with where they are in max until I get them to about where i want?

In your key frames.. (=) denotes a keyframe and (-) a normal frame..
=---------=---------=
Here the first keyframe is the animation for looking straight down, the 2nd key is looking straight ahead and the last is looking straight up..
Im not sure if this is what you were looking for.
