He's not doing anything fancy, except for maybe vertex shader 1 compression for the trees, its just a super nice mix of techniques. Very impressive overall...
Can anyone pinpoint the grass technique he's using? My buddy said its billboards w/ translucentcy? Comments?
BTW I've been looking at the same cloud code lately from SkyWorks. Its a FREE lic. too!!
anyways, check em out, very neat!

The nice thing about Torque is that it's relatively easy to plug in custom renderers like you need for grass/terrain/trees/clouds. A few people have done SpeedTree implementations in Torque and the consensus I've seen is that it's really easy to drop that sort of thing in.

Neat stuff. It takes lots of polish work to get grass/clouds looking really good and it seems like this guy has taken the time. The nice thing about Torque is that it's relatively easy to plug in custom renderers like you need for grass/terrain/trees/clouds. I want his trees though! I'll have to try bablefish on his docs to get a better handle on what he's doing.
The clouds are some sort of perlin noise particle systems from what I've read on the skyworks page. Uses impostors too for performance.
his grass is just the X shape billboards, but I was wondering how he gets the volume looking grass...

Yes, yes... all of the fx plugins on here are VERY easy to get working, especially considering they go into the editor and have script/engine links. I want his trees though! I'll have to try bablefish on his docs to get a better handle on what he's doing.
