Quark lighting - some rooms lit by sun, some rooms totally dark

Hi,

I have made a house in quark. I didn't add any light entity to the house yet. When I ran it ingame, some rooms in the house are totally dark while in some rooms, the walls appear to be lit by the sun. I have check the map with "Hole in Map" and there isn't a problem (means no hole).
Any idea?

Are you using the portals>? Sounds like some of the rooms have leaks allowing light into them, and the dark ones are sealed.

Yes, I am using portals. I guess I have to see if I can fix the leaking rooms. Thanks !CLUTCH! for this lead.

I have tried for a few hours, still no luck :(

[Addition] I built the house using cube instead of x/y wall. Could that be the problem?

Thanks Matthew,

I have looked at the "simple example map" above and found the cube for the portal rather small. Will try resizing the portals when I get back to my office.

There is also a portal option, that lets you choose if it should let sunlight pass or not. It sounds like the setting of your portals are set to "don't let sunlight pass" and you also have a few rooms that aren't sealed.

Thanks Stefan,

I didn't know about the "don't let sunlight pass" setting until you mentioned it here. I will enable it.
And the main task for me is to seal the rooms :) Well, I have tried putting the portals in various positions, some work and some don't. But I never scale the portals down (grid active is always ON), so the portals are never "within and between" the 2 sides of the window. So I will try to resize the portals when I get back to my office.
